Article Retraction & Withdrawal

Jurnal Manajemen Transportasi & Logistik (JMTRANSLOG) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Decisions concerning article withdrawal, retraction, correction, or removal are handled carefully and in accordance with publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Article Withdrawal Before Publication

Withdrawal refers to the removal of a manuscript from the editorial or peer-review process before it has been formally published. Authors who wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript must provide a written request to the editorial office, stating the reasons for withdrawal. The request should be approved by all co-authors, where applicable.

A manuscript must not be submitted to another journal while it remains under consideration by JMTRANSLOG. Authors are expected to obtain confirmation of withdrawal from the editorial office before submitting the manuscript elsewhere. Withdrawal requests may be investigated if there is evidence of duplicate submission, research misconduct, or other breaches of publication ethics.

2. Article Retraction After Publication

Retraction is an editorial action taken to alert readers that a published article contains serious errors or that its findings or publication integrity cannot be relied upon. JMTRANSLOG may consider retracting an article when there is clear evidence of circumstances such as:

  • Significant errors or unreliable findings that invalidate the conclusions of the article;
  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of other works;
  • Fabrication or falsification of data, research results, or other material;
  • Duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate justification or disclosure;
  • Unethical research practices or serious violations of research ethics;
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the integrity of the article; or
  • Other serious breaches of publication ethics that undermine the reliability of the scholarly record.

A retraction may be initiated by the editor, the publisher, the authors, or another party raising a substantiated concern. The editorial team will assess the available evidence, seek explanations from the relevant authors where appropriate, and follow a fair and documented process before making a decision.

3. Retraction Notice

When an article is retracted, JMTRANSLOG will publish a clear retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction, to the extent that the information can be disclosed appropriately. The notice will be linked to the original article so that readers can readily identify the article's status.

The original article will generally remain accessible with a clear retraction statement or watermark, preserving the publication record and ensuring transparency. Retraction does not necessarily imply that every author was responsible for the circumstances leading to the decision.

4. Corrections and Expressions of Concern

Where an issue affects only part of an article and does not invalidate the overall findings, JMTRANSLOG may publish a correction or erratum instead of retracting the article. If substantial concerns arise but the available evidence is insufficient to reach a definitive conclusion, the journal may publish an expression of concern while further investigation is undertaken.

The editorial decision will depend on the nature, seriousness, and extent of the issue, as well as the evidence available.

5. Article Removal

Removal of a published article is an exceptional measure and will be considered only when necessary, such as where publication creates a serious legal risk, violates applicable legal requirements, or poses a significant risk to personal safety or privacy. Where an article must be removed, JMTRANSLOG will, where legally and ethically permissible, retain a notice explaining that the article has been removed and the general reason for the action.

6. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to notify the editorial office promptly if they discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work. They must cooperate with the editorial team in investigating concerns and, where necessary, issuing a correction or retraction.

Authors must not request withdrawal or attempt to remove a published article solely to avoid criticism, unfavorable findings, or legitimate editorial scrutiny. Any request concerning a published article will be assessed according to the journal's publication ethics policies.

7. Editorial Independence and Transparency

Decisions on withdrawal, correction, retraction, or removal are made independently by the journal's editorial team based on the evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and applicable publication ethics principles. All actions will be documented appropriately to preserve transparency and protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

For further guidance on retractions and publication ethics, JMTRANSLOG refers to the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
